St. Maarten Tiki Hut Tour

The St Maarten Tiki Hut Tour

This 110ft floating recreation area recreates the authentic look and feel of a Polynesian Tiki Hut in the Caribbean from which you can enjoy wreck snorkeling.

Under the shadow of the hilltop Fort Amsterdam, it is designed to provide a base from which to enjoy great snorkeling away from the crowds. With a cool bar and sizzling BBQ grill, complimentary sun chairs and snorkel equipment, it is situated right above a designated marine park.

You will be greeted at the cruise ship terminal and will board our small transfer ferry for a pleasant 15 minute ride across the bay to the Tiki Hut. Upon arrival, a 10 minutes orientation is given on safety, equipment, and marine life.
Afterwards the day is yours to snorkel, swim, and sunbathe.

Our ferry does regular shuttles back to the cruise ship pier or into Philipsburg for some souvenir shopping, and you can ask for an all day city water taxi bracelet, that will let you ride to and from the cruise ship pier to downtown as a complimentary service. (normally $5).

The site is anchored in beautiful Little Bay. Among the many extras found at the Tiki Hut is a protected 5' deep pool to provide a great experience even for bathtub snorkelers. There are lots of sun lounges and shady places to sit, or if you prefer you can float in a noodle lounge with a drink in your hand. Food, drinks, sunscreen, underwater cameras, and souvenir T-shirts are available at the bar at extra cost.

Discover rocky and sandy bottoms teeming with aquatic life. Turtles, stingrays, lobster, squid, octopus, and eels visit frequently. There is a real tourist submarine sunk to create an artificial reef and to attract new marine life.

You will also find ship wrecks damaged form Hurricane Luis (1995), 3 cannons from Fort Amsterdam, Reef Balls made by the Nature Foundation of St. Maarten, as well as other interesting artifacts.

The certified Snorkel Instructors are there to meet your every need in learning how to snorkel and to educate on the fascinating underwater world.
